3.6.1.1 Leg brace. Two leg braces shall be provided with each table. The
leg braces shall be fabricated of 1/8 by 1-1/2 inch steel conforming to ASTM
A575 . Each leg brace shall include two 11/32 inch holes, one hole for each
leg (see Figure 3).
3.6.2 Welding rod rack. The welding rod rack shall be fabricated (see
Figure 4 ) of Manufacturers' Standard Gage No. 16 (0.06 inch) steel conforming
to ASTM A575. The rack shall provide six separate storage compartment for
welding rods. Each compartment hall be of welded construction and shall be

capable of withstanding without damage, an individual load of not less than
ten pounds of welding rods with a total load of 60 pounds for the rack.
3.6.3 Fire brick rack.
The fire brick rack shall be fabricated (see
3.6.4 Fire brick. Six fire bricks, 2-1/2 by 4-1/2 by 9 inches, conformly
to MIL-B-16008 or class B of MIL-B-16305 shall be provided with each welding
table.
3.6.5 Table top
The table top shall be fabricatedf of 3/16 by 23-1/4 by
36-5/8 inch steel plate or sheet conforming to ASTM A575. The top shall be
supported by 1-1/4 by 1-1/4 angle iron conforming to ASTM A569. The angle
frame shall be welded to the underside of the top plate or sheet for alignment
with the front and side edges of the top. Four 11/32 inch holes shall be
provied in the angle frame for bolting the top to the leg assemblies (see
Figure 1).
3.7 Assembly instructions. The manufacturer shall furnish two copies of
assembly instructions with each table. The instructions shall describe in a
clear and accurate manner the procedureto follow in the assembly and
disassembly of the table. When practicable, all components shall be legibly
marked by stenciling or other means on the back surface with the
manufacturer's part number for identification during assembly. The
instuctions shall be sealed in a waterproof envelope and securely fastened to
a component of the table.
3.8 Painting Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2.1), painting and
finishing shall be in acoordance with the bestcommercial practice in the
industry. Before painting, all surfaces shall be clean and be free of all
foreign matter detrimental to painting At least one coat of prime (or a
phosphate or chromate base) and one coat of enamel, or equivalent (i.e., epoxy
enamel ), shall be applied.
3.9 Product identification. The welding table shall be marked for product

identification in accordance with MIL-STD-130 and, unless otherwise specified
(see 6.2.1), shall include the National Stock Number.
