MIL-T-45809F (AL)
3.4.2 Fastening devices. Screws, pins, bolts, and similar parts shall be
installed with means for adjustment and for preventing loss of tightness l The
methods for adjustment and for preventing loss of tightness shall be in
accordance with accepted engineering standards and practice. All such parts
when subject to removal or adjustment shall not be swaged, peened, staked, or
otherwise deformed. All kited connections shall be secured with either lock
nuts or lock washers. The length of the fasteners shall be the minimum
required.
3.4.3 Interchangeabililty. All parts shall be manufactured to definite
standards, clearances, and tolerances in under that any such parts of a
particular type or model may be replaced, interchanged and adjusted without
modification of the replacement parts or any other parts of the unit. When
practical, all parts shall be permanently and legibly marked in accordance
with MIL-STD-130.
3.4.4 Surfaces. Surfaces of castings forgings, molded parts, stampings
and welded parts shall be clean and free of sand, dirt, fins, sprues, scale,
flux, and other extraneous materials, as consistent with accepted industry
standards. External surfaces shall be smooth and edges shall be rounded or
beveled.
3.4.5 Tolerances. Unless otherise specified herein, the tolerance on all
1/4 inch except for hole sizes which shall be
1/32
dimensions shall be
inch.
3.5 Vibration. The complete welding table, loaded with fire brick or
equivalent weight (48 pounds ) and welding reds or equivalent weight (60
pounds) in their respective racks, and rigidly fastened through its mounting
holes onto a vibrating machine shall withstand vibrations with an amplitude of
1/16 inch (1/8 inch total excursion) at a frequency of 600 cycles per minute
(cpm) for a period of one hour in the direction the vertical axis. The
of
table shall show no permanent deformation, cracks in welds, or distortion of
any component
3.6 Detail of components. The table shall consist of the principal
component parts specified in 3.6.1 through 3.6.5.
3.6.1 Legs. The table shall incorporate four legs fabricated of 1/8 inch
by 2 inch by 2 inch angle iron conforming to ASTM A568. Each leg shall be
provided with an integral bottom plate located within the leg angle and
furnished with a 13/32 inch hole for mounting the table to the floor (see
Figure 3). Two 11/32 inch holes shall be provided in each leg, me hole near
the leg top for bolting to the table top and the other hole in the lower
section for bolting to the leg brace (see Figure 3). One pair of legs shall
be welded to the welding rod rack assembly (a 3.6.2), and one pair of legs
shall be welded to the fire brick rack assembly (see 3.6.3).
